Hey Everyone, and welcome to the inaugural edition of Weekly Wasted Words, the weekly writing challenge that much like Whose Line is it Anyway, everything's made up and the points don't matter. What does matter, is getting people out there with all those stories floating around in their heads, a place to share them.
Before I get into this weeks quote, I need to get a quick bit of housekeeping non-sense out of the way. There's a 'rules' section on the main page that spells everything out more clearly, but here are the high points:
This is meant to be fun. Don't sweat word counts or grammar or anything else. Just puke out some words. As my man Hemingway said, "Writing is easy. All you do is sit down in front of your laptop and bleed." Something like that.
All stories belong to their original poster.
I'd suggest leaving a section at the top of your story noting if you'd like any feedback. Something as simple as "Comments: Story notes only please" or "Comments: No thank you" would suffice. The second part of this rule is, respect other people's requests. If someone doesn't want your opinion, keep it to yourself. Lastly, and this is tricky, but I think if you @ the person you are leaving a comment back, the forum will notify that you mentioned their story. It's worth a shot so when you tell me my story is terrible, someone else doesn't think you're talking about their work.
Okay, phew. Now that all that noise is done, let's get down to this weeks challenge. Here's your quote, I believe it's from both book and movie Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk:
Buy the sofa, then for a couple years you're satisfied that no matter what goes wrong, at least you've got your sofa issue handled.
This was a fun one to pick because I consider Fight Club one of the most quotable works of all time. This one took the cake because it seems completely Fight Club without being one of the banner quotes from the book. I can't wait to see where you all take this one.
